PHOENIX -- For many families, the holidays aren't the same without tamales at the dinner table.

The Tamale Store in north Phoenix has sold thousands this month.

"It's super busy. We've had lines out the door," Pauline Pimienta told 3TV.

The kitchen is bustling this weekend with cooks creating tamales to fulfill holiday orders.

"We stopped taking pre-orders, and now we're on a first-come, first-served basis," she said.

The family-owned store, which opened five years ago, has a rotating list of available tamales.

The owners hired extra help to keep up with holiday demand, and they continue stocking the shelves in stores like Whole Foods Market and AJ's Fine Foods.
