Operation nets 197 arrests of fugitives in Arizona

PHOENIX (AP) -- An annual law enforcement operation to apprehend fugitives has resulted in 197 arrests in three areas of Arizona.
The U.S. Marshals Service says federal, state, county and municipal agencies conducted the operation conducted Tuesday through Thursday targeted individuals with outstanding arrest warrants for crimes to include robbery, burglary, theft, larceny.
According to the service, the annual operation not only apprehends fugitives but also helps prevent additional property-related offenses, which the agency says historically increase during the holiday season.
The 197 arrests cleared 288 warrants and included 131 arrests in the Phoenix area, 48 in the Tucson area and 18 in the Yuma area.
