MESA, Ariz. -- A man driving a minivan hit three bicyclists, killing one late Friday morning.

The driver was heading south on Gilbert Road when he ran a red light and hit the bicyclists as they crossed at Pueblo Avenue, police said.

One of the cyclists, a man in his 50s or 60s, died from his injuries. The other two victims were taken to local hospitals. Their conditions were not immediately available.

The driver of the minivan pulled to the side of the road and walked back to the scene.

Police have not released any information about him, saying only that they do not believe impairment was a factor in the deadly crash.
