Woman gets 43 years in prison for Phoenix bar shooting

PHOENIX -- A woman who shot two men outside a Phoenix sports bar earlier this year bar has been sentenced to 43 years in prison.

Jessica Wood, 30, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder in November.

Thomas Allen Marcussen and James Swain were shot outside Zipps Sports Grill at 16th Street and Bethany Home Road on March 21.

Marcussen died from his injuries but Swain survived.

Police said Wood approached the two men shortly before midnight and opened fire without provocation.

Police believe Wood was under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time of the incident.
