PHOENIX -- The 18-year-old driver of a car was killed in a collision in northwest Phoenix on Thursday afternoon, according to police.

It happened just before 1 p.m. at the intersection of 51st Avenue and Bell Road.

The deceased driver was eastbound on Bell Road when he attempted to make a left turn onto 51st Avenue and collided with a westbound vehicle driven by a 56-year-old woman, according to Sgt. Jonathan Howard.
