PHOENIX -- Police on Thursday were still trying to determine who and why someone would have killed a Phoenix man in his home.

Officers found the body of the 38-year-old man in a home near 67th and Highland avenues about 4 p.m. Wednesday when they went to check on him after friends and family members told police they had not heard from him for several days.

Sgt. Jonathan Howard said the victim's body had obvious signs of trauma indicative of a homicide and that detectives were trying to determine a motive and identify suspects.

Investigators were seen going into different rooms of the house, and flashes from their cameras could be seen through the windows.

The medical examiner arrived early Thursday morning, and a young woman said the home is that of her father.

She was too shaken up to say anything else.

Anyone with information about the suspects or incidents is asked to call police at 602-262-6141 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (480-948-6377), or 480-TESTIGO (480-837-8446).

No other information was available.
