Police ID man killed in South Phoenix shooting

PHOENIX -- A 33-year-old man is dead following a shooting on Monday night in a South Phoenix neighborhood.

Just before 7 p.m., Phoenix police were called to a shooting in the area of 4400 E. Wood St.

Officers found Steven Harris with a gunshot wound inside his townhome. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police spokesman Officer James Holmes said Harris' wife and two small children were upstairs when the shooting occurred. They were not injured and did not witness the attack.

Detectives have nothing to go on concerning this investigation. They are asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything at the time of the shooting or who may have information concerning the victim to call the Phoenix Police Violent Crimes Bureau at 602-262-6141 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
