SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- There are plenty of fitness classes to be found for adults here in the Valley. But what about fitness classes for the kids?
We found a program that offers conditioning programs just for youth. The classes are designed to increase kids' strength, endurance, as well as their sports performance. Kids do everything from wall sits to running the stairs to push-ups.
On Monday's Good Evening Arizona, Mike Sheahan from Infinity Fitness showed us some good exercises for kids of all ages and activity levels.
"They're just going to work on everything," he said, as some of his students demonstrated different activities. "They're working on conditioning. They're working core work. They're working legs. Anything they can possibly do."
"This is good for the athlete; this is good for the kid who plays too many video games that really needs to be in a gym," Sheahan continued. "They hit growth spurts at different times. They grow taller, and their muscles don't necessarily develop with them as fast. If you see the tall, gangly guys, the young kids that hit those growth spurts, and they have no clue what's going on with their body and they're flopping all over the place, this is kind of something that will help with that."
Once trained how to do all these exercises correctly, kids and families can do most of them at home.
