PHOENIX (AP) -- Cochise County has completed a hand recount of ballots from three precincts in the too-close-to-call race between Democratic Rep. Ron Barber and Republican Martha McSally.
County Elections Director Katie Howard says the results from Friday's recount were identical to the machine recount results done earlier this week.
The hand recount of 5 percent of the precincts is required by law to verify machine accuracy in the full 2nd Congressional District recount now underway. The machine recounts of nearly 220,000 ballots were completed by both counties on Wednesday
Pima County will do its hand recount verification on Monday. If they too are within a small margin the final results will be sent to a Maricopa County judge for certification on Dec. 17.
