YUMA, Ariz. (AP) -- Border Patrol agents say 14 suspected drug smugglers are in custody and more than 600 pounds of marijuana seized at the southern Arizona border.

Federal authorities say agents from the Yuma Station spotted four people with a hand cart in an irrigation canal near San Luis on Wednesday.

The agents found eight bundles containing 185 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated $92,500.

The four suspects were subsequently arrested.

Meanwhile, agents at the Wellton Station observed a group carrying square-shaped backpacks near Interstate 8.

The agents responding to the area arrested 10 people hiding in brush.

The backpacks with them contained a total of 488 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated $244,000.

Nine people were arrested and turned over to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office. One juvenile was processed by agents.
