GILBERT, Ariz. - Nothing says the holidays more than a figure skating spectacular on ice. And this holiday season, the whole family will love "Nuts About Broadway" at AZ ICE Gilbert on Friday and Saturday, December 12 and 13.

Nuts about Broadway is a production of the AZ Ice Gilbert Figure Skating Department, and features a contemporary spin on Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker Ballet, one of the most famous holiday performances of all time.

"This is absolutely the most beautiful time of the year to watch skating in person, and even to get started skating on your own," says AZ ICE Skating Director, Mark Fitzgerald. "As we look to build our figure skating program, we hope the community will come out and support the show and see the high quality of skating we are putting out here in Gilbert."

The performance will spotlight skaters of all ages and levels, featuring more than 75 skaters from Gilbert and cities across the Valley.  Some of the featured soloists include regional and national competitors in both singles and ice dance.

The story begins with a monologue from a veteran Broadway song and dance performer, who established herself as one of the most versatile and highly respected artists in the musical industry. She will recount her story of how The Nutcracker influenced her career throughout the decades. The show will give the occasional nod to the Nutcracker classics like the Sugar Plum Fairy and The Russian Dance, and incorporate selections from Broadway musicals throughout the decades as the story of this seasoned performer unfolds.
