Man sentenced in Phoenix crash that killed toddler

PHOENIX (AP) -- An Arizona man has been sentenced for causing a Phoenix automobile accident in which a young boy was killed.
 
Edgar Martinez was sentenced to five years in prison and five years supervised probation after pleading guilty to negligent homicide and aggravated assault. He was sentenced on Friday in Maricopa County Superior Court.
 
Police said Martinez was driving into oncoming traffic in October 2013 when he hit another vehicle head-on. Three-year-old Eric Garces was killed.
