PHOENIX -- The heavy rain is over for the Valley, but cloudy conditions will persist for the next couple of days as the atmosphere remains hooked up to a direct link to the sub-tropics. That means it will also be warm and humid as well.

While Friday does not have rain in the forecast, there is a chance for afternoon showers on Saturday.

The rainfall totals were pretty impressive. At Sky Harbor Airport, 0.61 inch fell, giving us a year-to-date total of 8.11 inches. Since our average annual rainfall is 8.03 inches, that guarantees we’ll end the year with a wetter-than-normal year. And we have almost the entire month of December to add to that number.

Around the Valley, most locations received more than half an inch of rain. At Chandler Airport, 1.18 inch of rain fell, while in north Mesa, one rain gauge came up just short of one inch.

With the warm, moist air mass in place through the weekend, we can expect highs in the mid-70s and overnight lows in the 50s.
