PHOENIX -- Nothing says Christmas like the smell of cookies! And it just so happens that Thursday, Dec. 4 is National Cookie Day.

To celebrate, the folks from "Cookies from Home" joined us at 3TV Thursday morning.

Owner Corey Meiteen baked us up a batch of sugar cookies. "It's a holiday classic, lots of fun for the family, and a super easy recipe," he says.

Corey says the biggest sellers this season are Chewy Chunk, Fudge Wheel and Cinnamon Roll cookies. Also big this time of year are seasonal cookies like Ginger Molasses, Mint Fudge and Cranberry Orange.

Cookie facts:
Did you know that the English word "cookie" is derived from the Dutch word "koekje," which means little cake? Dutch bakers used to test oven temperatures on small amounts of batter so that they would not waste the entire cake mix if the temperature wasn't right. It was not long before they discovered that these tiny pieces of cooked batter were actually tasty!
