PHOENIX -- Families gathered outside a Phoenix events center Monday night, demanding answers from the owners and claiming they have been ripped-off.

People in the crowd told 3TV they spent thousands booking event space and services with Royal Garden Event Center, at 67th Avenue and Indian School Road. They say the venue shut down without warning last week.

"We paid $11,000 for the food, the DJ, the limo, and got nothing," Jessica Vallarta said.  Her daughter's quinceañera was supposed to be at the hall last Saturday.

"They're not answering phones and are just bad people," Mayra Gonzalez added. Her wedding is scheduled to take place at Royal Garden in three weeks.

"We gave them $5,000, and now I don't know what I'm going to do," she said.

Others showed our crew receipts and contracts for dates through 2015, all paid in full, ranging from $5,000 to $11,000.

The owners of the business have not returned our calls.
