PHOENIX (AP) -- A Navajo Nation official says a police officer has died from health complications while driving a man he just arrested to a police substation in Dilkon.

Spokesman Deswood Tome says Officer Ernest Montoya likely suffered a heart attack while at the wheel of his vehicle on Sunday. Tome says the vehicle did not crash and the male prisoner was not injured.

Another Navajo Nation officer was seriously wounded recently. Officer Joseph Gregg was shot in the face on Oct. 11 at a home in Kaibeto (KY'-bih-toe), and survived the injury.
