Bisbee home engulfed in Thanksgiving firePosted: Updated:
BISBEE, Ariz. (AP) -- Authorities say a couple managed to flee a fire that destroyed their Bisbee home on Thanksgiving with only minor injuries.
The Sierra Vista Herald reports that the fire broke out around 10 a.m. Thursday at the home situated in Tombstone Canyon.
The Cochise County Sheriff's Department says a propane tank in the residence exploded.
The ensuing blaze drew crews from three different city fire departments.
Authorities say homeowners Dee and Paul Jordan were able to escape but Dee Jordan was hospitalized for smoke inhalation and a burn on her arm.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire within an hour and light winds kept nearby properties from igniting.
The Sheriff's department says the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
