CHANDLER, Ariz. -- Chandler High School hasn't won a state football championship game in 65 years, but this Friday they are hoping to change that.

The last time Chandler High won state was in 1949. Some of the 1949 Chandler football team members were at the Chandler High pep assembly Wednesday to support this year's football team.

"Having some of the members from that state championship team come to support us, it just gives us that extra boost of confidence," Bryce Perkins, Chandler High's quarterback, said.

Hamilton High School and Chandler High will compete Friday at the University of Phoenix for this year's football championship title.

Hamilton High has been in the last seven championship games.
