We all spend a bit more than we'd probably like to during the holiday season, but it doesn't have to be that way.

3TV's April Warnecke says her aunt has some unique ways to stay thrifty during the holidays.

"Aunt Sandra" collects gifts throughout the year and never pays full price.

She keeps go-to gifts like candles, coffee, flashlights and toys on hand, which she buys on discount through the year. The first rule of shopping thrifty is to never pass up a clearance table according to Sandra.

Her second rule of being a cheap gift giver is to keep a spot to store your gifts throughout the year. She started with a small bin, graduating next to a bigger bin, and eventually devoting a whole closet to gifts.

By stocking up throughout the year on everything from stocking stuffers to greeting cards, she pays next to nothing while still celebrating the gift of giving.
