PHOENIX -- A 37-year-old man died Sunday following a collision involving a motorized scooter and a pickup truck.

Phoenix police said Robert Dehart and his 15-year-old daughter were riding a scooter on 35th Avenue Saturday morning when the pickup truck in front of them slowed to make a right turn north of Northern Avenue.

The scooter failed to stop and hit the back of the truck.

Dehart and his daughter were transported to a local hospital. Phoenix police spokesman James Holmes said Dehart was in extremely critical condition and was taken off life support on Sunday.

His daughter received only bruising in the collision.

Holmes said the father and daughter were wearing helmets.
