PHOENIX – A 43-year-old Phoenix man is accused of downloading and distributing child pornography.

Detectives from the Arizona Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force identified a computer using file-sharing software trading and distributing images and videos depicting the sexual exploitation of minors.

A search warrant was served at Chad Alan Bowman's home near Seventh Street and Indian School Road Wednesday morning.

Police spokesman Officer James Holmes said investigators located additional evidence on Internet-accessible devices, including images and videos of young children under the age of 12 being sexually abused. According to court documents, police found a laptop that contained more than 20 videos.

Bowman told police that he used file-sharing software to download the videos because he "was curious if they existed and wanted to view the images for shock value," according to the documents.

Court records show that Bowman has been medically discharged from the Armed Forces due to PTSD.

Bowman faces 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and is being held on $35,000 bond.
