GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- Former Olympic swimmer Amy Van Dyken-Rouen will help kick off Glendale's annual Christmas lights display.

Van Dyken-Rouen will appear alongside local officials at the Countdown to Glendale Glitters Show on Nov. 28.

The 41-year-old Van Dyken-Rouen will flip the switch on more than 1 million lights.

It will be a busy holiday season for Van Dyken-Rouen, who will serve as grand marshal of the 44th annual Fiesta Bowl parade next month.

Van Dyken-Rouen severed her spinal cord in an all-terrain vehicle accident near Show Low, Arizona, in June and is still paralyzed.

The six-time Olympic gold medalist was the first American woman to win four gold medals in one games at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and won two more at Sydney four years later before retiring from competition.
