NOGALES, Ariz. -- Nogales officers seized nearly $1.47 million worth of marijuana from a tractor-trailer Monday at the Port of Nogales' Mariposa crossing.
Jose Enriquez-Anzar, 70, was referred for a non-intrusive inspection of his trailer when the X-ray revealed something abnormal.
Officers from U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Office of Field Operations found 1.5 tons of marijuana in Enriquez-Anzar's supposedly "empty" tractor-trailer after a CBP narcotics detection canine alerted them of the drugs.
The 139 bundles of marijuana were disocvered behind a false wall.
Enriquez-Anzar was apprehended and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Officers seized the 2,946 pounds of drugs and tractor-trailer.
