PHOENIX (AP) -- An arrest warrant for a newly elected Arizona legislator has been erased after a friend of the incoming lawmaker paid outstanding fines for traffic violations dating from 2010.

According to the Arizona Capitol Times, Florence officials quashed the warrant Monday after a friend who was a campaign volunteer for Rep.-elect Ceci Velasquez paid the $2,000 in fines.

Velasquez is a Litchfield Park Democrat who won a race for a House seat from Legislative District 29 in the Nov. 6 general election.

The fines were levied against Velasquez in Florence Municipal Court for driving on a suspending license, for driving a vehicle with a suspended registration and for not having required insurance for the vehicle.
