MESA, Ariz. -- Golden Corral is honoring the nation's veterans by offering a free meal for veterans and active military members.

From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 17 veterans and military can get a free meal with no ID required.

The reasoning for doing this event on a Monday is so the restaurant can accommodate more veterans.

"We will serve probably about 800 to 900 free meals tonight," Duane Weaver, manager at Golden Corral in Mesa, said.

They will also be raising donations for Disabled American Veterans.

"Besides giving back to the military, we are also raising money for the Disabled American Veterans Organization, so with that being said we are going to surpass $10 million as a Golden Corral chain in donations," Weaver said.

Only current and former military qualify for the free meal, but everyone is encouraged to come out and show support.
