EL MIRAGE, Ariz. -- Police are investigating how a teenage boy fell from a Ferris wheel in El Mirage.

It happened Saturday night at Gateway Park at Peoria Avenue and El Mirage Road. The 14-year-old boy was attending the El Mirage Fall Festival.

The teen reportedly fell between 15 and 30 feet. Video from the scene showed police tape around the Ferris wheel.

The boy was airlifted to Phoenix Children's Hospital and was conscious when emergency responders transported him.

El Mirage police Sgt. Robert Peoples said Sunday that the boy was still hospitalized, but his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Peoples said police are conducting interviews and that it is too soon to say what led to the boy's fall.

Saturday was the final day of the two-day carnival.
