PHOENIX -- Voodoo Bikeworks and their biker family are holding a benefit ride this Saturday to help out their friend who was t-boned by a red-light runner.

Tony Lohrenz was t-boned by a driver who ran a red light on Oct. 11 while riding his motorcycle.

He faces a long recovery period after the accident shattered his hip and ankle and broke ribs. He suffers from a punctured lung and fractures to his lumbar vertebrae as well.

"He's a single dad. He's a veteran, so we're just trying to help him raise as much money as we can," Jenn Duarte of Voodoo Bikeworks said.

All of the proceeds from the benefit ride with go to pay for Lohrenz' medical expenses but the event is also meant to shine light on motorcycle awareness.

"We also want to point out awareness. Motorcycles are out there every day. We want to bring out the awareness to look twice for motorcycles," Eric Guera, the benefit ride organizer, said.
