CHANDLER, Ariz. -- Chandler's Woofstock festival for dog lovers will take place this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tumbleweed Park.

The event is free for families and their dogs. Owners can come out with their furry friend and participate in workshops and other activities.

There will also be booths and a pet parade.

"We started as an awareness for disabled veterans, as a salute to veterans and we also wanted to do it as a thing to get the community involved in rescuing animals to understand the plight of a lot of the animals out here," Gared Classman of the American Service Animal Society said.

Classman and his organization train dogs for veterans that may need help.

The event is in partnership between Chandler and the American Service Animal Society and Maricopa County animal Care and Control.
