PHOENIX (AP) -- Phoenix is launching a campaign to encourage donations for public schools' extracurricular activities.

The so-called "Kids Are Missing Out" campaign announced Wednesday by Mayor Greg Stanton would encourage donations for activities such as marching bands, sports and field trips.

Phoenix officials say they're trying to narrow the gap in amounts of donations provided various schools through the state's tax-credit program.

The income tax credit provides dollar-for-dollar savings of up to $200 per individual and $400 per couple annually.
