PHOENIX (AP) -- The Pima County recorder says elections officials discovered 208 additional ballots from an area within the 2nd Congressional District.
The 2nd District race is very tight, with Democratic Rep. Ron Barber trailing Republican Martha McSally by 133 votes. The extra votes could put McSally's margin outside the 200-vote threshold for an automatic recount.
Recorder F. Ann Rodriguez says county elections officials found the additional general election ballots Wednesday while processing envelopes for a special ballot for the Continental School District. That is a Republican-leaning area in Green Valley.
The recorder is reviewing the ballots to ensure voters are credited with voting and they'll be counted Wednesday.
Rodriguez says she's verified 83 conditional provisional ballots from the 2nd District. Another 13 ballots will need additional identification from voters before being processed.
