MESA, Ariz. – Arizona Department of Public Safety officers are investigating whether impairment was a factor in a motorcycle crash that shut down U.S. 60 near Higley Road in Mesa Tuesday night.

A DPS spokesman said a motorcyclist was clocked going about 150 mph.

When officers tried to do a maneuver to slow down the motorcyclist, the motorcycle sideswiped a cruiser and crashed.

The rider is in serious condition but is expected to survive.

The DPS officer suffered minor injuries.
