Sunrise Flag Raising Event
Boeing presents a check for $15,000 to Jared Allen's Homes for Wounded Warriors during their annual Veterans Day Sunrise Flag Raising Ceremony. The sunrise flag raising event will be held outside the 'main' building lobby near the US, Arizona, POW flag poles as well as near the Mesa Site Veterans Wall of Honor and the service branch flag poles. US Army Soldiers will raise the US Flag at Sunrise.  The new service branch flags will then be raised with the old flags presented to 5 different Boeing employees who are service veterans.  In addition to members of BEVA, local Boy Scouts help with raising the service branch flags. Each branch song is played as the flag is raised. At the conclusion of this year's flag raising ceremony, Boeing leaders will present the Boeing on the Move $15,000 donation to Jared Allen's Homes for Wounded Warriors.

Desert Dentistry will offer free selective services for veterans on Veteran's Day at each of their offices in Phoenix, Payson, and Surprise. Dr. Mattern strongly believes that the men and women in the military serve our country with honor and deserve our respect and appreciation afterwards. His family has a long history of members serving in the armed forces, as recently as his son who is currently serving in the US Air force. Giving back to the community has always been a priority for Dr. Mattern.  He has offered his office   every year since 2003 to the ADA Give Kids a Smile program providing care to hundreds of disadvantaged children.

Veteran Marching Band
Marching band, color guard, choir and vets celebrate at a local Veteran's Day event that is open to the public. Moon Valley High School's Marching Band will be performing, along with their Color Guard Unit and ROTC Unit. Christian Care's Choir is performing a few patriotic numbers and Elizabeth Schwartz will be singing the National Anthem.

Skills For Life
Ford Motor Company is bringing an opportunity for teen drivers to receive hands-on advanced driver training by professional race car drivers courtesy of Ford's Driving Skills for Life program. The program will be in Phoenix Nov. 11-12. Who wouldn't jump at the chance to drive in a Mustang and learn from the pros? 400 teens will receive training at the Phoenix Fire Training Facility.

Operation Wedding Gown
Destiny's Bride in Old Town Scottsdale is giving away free bridal gowns to military brides on Veteran's Day. Destiny's Bride will shut down the store that day to serve only the military brides, giving them a wedding gown shopping experience that they may not have been able to without this opportunity. Destiny's Bride is the only bridal salon in the area participating in and we are trying to get the word out to the women who would be applicable.

Jon Stewart's Rosewater
Rosewater is a 2014 American drama written and directed by Jon Stewart, based on the memoir Then They Came for Me by Maziar Bahari and Aimee Molloy. Bahari's imprisonment is connected to an interview he participated in on The Daily Show in 2009; Iranian authorities presented the interview as evidence that he was in communication with an American spy. Due to the content of the film, Stewart has been accused by Iran's State TV of being funded by Zionists and working with the CIA. The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 14, 2014.
Free Food for Veterans
On Tuesday, November 11th Nabers wants to say thank you to our veterans. In honor of Veterans Day, the Chandler restaurant is offering a FREE meal, from a special menu, for active and retired vets. All they must do is show proper military ID.
There will also be live music all day. Chandler Harley Davidson will be there showcasing their newest models of motorcycles. People visiting the locally-owned restaurant on Veterans Day can also nominate their own military veteran for a  free trip by donating $20 to nonprofit Heart of Valor. The lucky winner will receive 2 nights and a full day of deep sea fishing in San Diego! Heart of Valor raises funds to send military vets on excursions and trips. For those who cannot make it out to Nabers on Veterans Day, they can visit the Heart of Valor website at to donate and nominate someone for the free trip.
