TEMPE, Ariz. -- A military theft took place on the Arizona State University campus just before Veterans Day.

Someone stole $7,700 from the ROTC office at the Tempe campus.

The ASU Police Department said the money went missing last Thursday or Friday.

The money was in the form of cash and checks from ticket sales to the Marine/Navy birthday ball to happen this weekend.

Capt. David Price, commanding officer of ASU's Navy ROTC, said the ball will still go on.

Through the university, he says, the event costs will still be covered. He also said not all the money was stolen.

Some 250 people will be attending with about 150 of them being students from freshmen through seniors.

The ball will be held Saturday at the Phoenix Zoo.

The ASU Police Department is still investigating.
