PHOENIX -- It's been a roller coaster ride for Robert Leonard, whose passion for the Three Stooges was supposed to make him money.

"It's been deeply frustrating because, like I said, I have bills just like everybody else that I have to pay," Leonard said.

The Three Stooges were quite the comedy routine from the 1930s, and they continued to perform together for decades, eventually becoming a hit on TV.

Leonard enjoyed Moe, Larry and Curly so much growing up that he started collecting personal items that once belonged to the trio.

Leonard even bought a gold money clip that belonged to one of the Stooges and has held on to it for years.

"The prized possession of mine was the gold money clip engraved Curly Howard. That was my favorite piece. I paid $1,000 for that back in the 1980s," Leonard told 3 On Your Side.

Leonard says that back in April. he mailed the gold money clip along with a large amount of other Three Stooges memorabilia to a California auction company called Premiere Props.

The company confirms they sold all the items for around $13,000, and minus their commission, they were supposed to give Leonard $9,200.

Leonard says the auction was months ago, but he's been asking Premiere Props every week to pay him.

"It's been frustrating. I've been waiting. I've called them I don't know how many times. ... He just doesn't answer my phone calls. I've texted him. Again, nothing," Leonard said.

So, 3 On Your Side got a hold of the auction company to find out what the hold up was, and a representative promised to get Leonard his money in less than a week. And you know what? Premiere Props did.

That $9,200 went straight to Leonard in just a few days. Leonard says he's been waiting for months to get his money and says it took 3 On Your Side to get things done.

"When I called you, and you called me back just like that, it's the best thing that happened to me because you got action out of this guy, which is something I couldn't do. He wouldn't listen to me. He wouldn't do anything for me, so thanks," Leonard said.

3 On Your Side appreciates Premiere Props looking into the matter as quickly as it did for us and sending Leonard his proceeds.
