PHOENIX – Students and staff at Shadow Mountain High School are on high alert after reports of a man lurking near campus the past few days.

A letter was sent to parents, alerting them of the incidents and informing them that police have been notified and are keeping an eye out for the man.

Paradise Valley Unified School District officials said a staff member first spotted the unknown man lurking around the campus at approximately 7 p.m. Tuesday.

He was described as approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall with a medium build and dirty blond to light brown collar-length hair. He was missing his front teeth and had an unclean appearance. He was wearing a dark baseball cap, a gray long-sleeve T-shirt, dark jeans and tennis shoes.

The man reportedly verbally harassed two girls walking on campus.

He was spotted near school grounds again the next night.

"I'm kind of freaked out because when he was on campus it was the same day that me and my friend were roaming around campus, we were by ourselves too, so there was that possibility that he could have came and did God knows what," one female student said.

"I definitely got freaked out," another girl said. "You don't know who's really on your campus and I thought we were safe with all these gates around, but I don't know."

Anyone who sees this man on campus is asked to call police or Crime Stop at 602-262-6151.
