PHOENIX -- Gasoline prices around Arizona keep going down at the pumps.
Officials with Triple-A Arizona said Thursday the average statewide price for unleaded regular gasoline is $2.89 a gallon. That's seven cents lower than last week.
This week's national average is $2.95 per gallon, down by almost six cents from last week.
Nearly half the country has gas prices under $3 per gallon. Triple-A analysts say prices should remain low, barring unforeseen circumstances.
The East Valley area (Mesa, Tempe, Gilbert, Chandler, Ahwatukee, Apache Junction and Queen Creek) has Arizona's lowest average gasoline price at $2.79 a gallon. Flagstaff has the highest at $3.20.
South Carolina has the lowest average gas prices among states in the continental U.S. at $2.70 a gallon with New York the highest at $3.33 a gallon.
