Woman pleads guilty in Phoenix sports bar shooting

PHOENIX – A woman accused of fatally shooting a man and injuring another outside a Phoenix bar has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.

Jessica Wood entered her plea in Maricopa County Superior Court Tuesday morning. Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 19.

Wood is charged in a March 21 shooting outside Zipps Sports Grill at 16th Street and Bethany Home Road.

Police said she approached two men shortly before midnight and opened fire without provocation.
Thomas Allen Marcussen died from his injuries. James Swain survived the shooting.

Investigators believe Wood was under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time of the incident.
