VALLEYWIDE -- If you have a little change in your pocket or purse, you can make a difference in the lives of Arizonans who desperately need your help this holiday season.

3TV and Fry's have teamed up once again for the Gift of Giving Holiday Food Drive to help families who otherwise would go hungry.

The annual effort kicked off Monday.

"Fry's is all about giving back to the community," Fry's spokeswoman Pam Giannonatti said.

Not only can you pick up nonperishable food items and leave them in the donation bins at any Fry's Food Store, you also can add a monetary donation to your grocery bill when you check out.

There are $1 and $5 scan cards that send money directly to local food banks, as well as $10 Gobble Give cards, which buy turkeys for the Salvation Army.

"These turkeys allow us to be able to give back to the community and just say, 'We care about you,'" Maj. John Brackenbury of the Salvation Army told 3TV's Heidi Goitia.

"We feed about 4,500 people just throughout the Valley of the Sun during Thanksgiving Day," he continued. "Then you add Christmas. Christmas dinner alone is 7,500 to 8,500 people."

If you buy a Gobble Give card, Fry's will give you a gift -- 10 percent off your bill the Friday, Saturday or Sunday after Thanksgiving.

The Gift of Giving Holiday Food drive runs through Dec. 28. Click here for more information.
