Phoenix weather: Cool start to weekPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- It was a very cool start to the week, with many Valley neighborhoods dipping to the mid 40s this morning. Parts of the high country dipped to the 20s, with the season's first freeze warning in effect this morning.
The chilly air came from a weekend cold front that also brought 2 inches of snow to the Snowbowl Resort ski area atop the San Francisco Peaks.
For most of the state, the front just brought some clouds and cooler air, but that chill will last into the early parts of this week.
Today's high temperature in the Valley is forecast at 74 degrees, which is almost ten degrees below average for this time of year. Look for sunshine today and clear skies tonight that will bring overnight lows back down to the mid 40s to mid 50s around town.
High pressure will gradually warm things up later this week, when we'll be back in the 80s, which is normal for this time of year. Expect sunshine and no rain for the next week. Overnight lows will come up a bit, but stay fairly cool in the 50s.
