PHOENIX -- Arizona Sen. John McCain is speaking out about a bloody family brawl involving his former vice president pick, Sarah Palin.

"I think these are family affairs," McCain said Friday. "Things happen in people's families and I'm not excusing it, I'm not condemning it."

McCain was referring to the now infamous fight last month in Alaska between Palin and her family members.

While the senator didn't have a lot to say about the fracas in The Last Frontier, he had plenty of sharp words for the media who covered it.

"I just know that the kind of coverage that this got, in my view, is in keeping with the kind of coverage the liberals have accorded to Sarah Palin for a number of years, which in my view, is biased and unfair and sometimes unacceptable," he said.

McCain and Palin will forever be linked since he picked her as his 2008 presidential running mate.
