Funeral set for Chandler police officer killed in crash

CHANDLER, Ariz. – Chandler police have announced the funeral arrangements for Officer Bryant Holmes, who was killed in a collision Tuesday afternoon.

A public viewing is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Stake Center, 3025 S. Hawes Road, in Mesa.

Funeral services will be held at the same location at 11 a.m. Monday.

Graveside services will be held at Valley of the Sun Cemetery, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Road, in Chandler. 

Procession route to the cemetery: San Tan (202) Freeway from Guadalupe Road to McQueen Road. Then south on McQueen Road to Chandler Heights. West on Chandler Heights to Valley of the Sun Cemetery located just west of Arizona Avenue.  

Holmes, 34, was riding a motorcycle to work when he was struck by an SUV near Baseline and Recker roads. A preliminary investigation by the Gilbert Police Department shows the SUV driver ran a red light.

A donation account has been set up for Holmes' family.

Any donations or funds raised for the family may be deposited in the "Deposit Only" account set up with Arizona Bank & Trust.
