PHOENIX – Searchers have found the body of a 68-year-old woman who went missing after going for a hike in the White Tank Mountains earlier this week.

Cheryl Case's body was located Thursday afternoon.

Detectives believe she got off the trail at some point and ended up on the west side of the mountain where she succumbed to the elements, according to Officer Christopher Hegstrom with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

No foul play is suspected.

Case left her Sun City home at about 10:30 a.m. Monday to go hiking and never returned.

Deputies located Case's vehicle in the parking lot.

Case was described as an experienced hiker with no known medical issues, but officials said she had limited water with her.

White Tank Mountain Regional Park is nearly 30,000 acres and there are about 25 miles of shared-use trails.
