Kitten cuddles on demand! 'Uberkittens' brings furry friends to youPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- On Wednesday, feline fans everywhere are celebrating "National Cat Day!" And what better way to celebrate our furry friends than with a new program by called "Uberkittens."
The Arizona Humane Society is teaming up with Uber for the program, which is designed to raise awareness about cat adoption.
Building off of last year's success, seven participating shelters in cities across the country will be offering on-demand kitten playtime through the Uber app, with 100 percent of the proceeds going directly to the shelters in each city.
"Kitten cudddles on demand," says Bretta Nelson of the Arizona Humane Society. "Uber is teaming up with the Arizona Humane Society, also the SPCA. From noon to 4:00 today, on National Cat Day, you can go on Uber and request a "kitten car." They will come to your business, your home. You'll get 15 minutes of cuddle time with these little guys. And hopefully in the end you'll adopt as well."
The program is free, but a $30 donation is requested. Uber is matching those donations.
Simply open the Uber app on your phone between 12 pm & 4 p.m., and request the “KITTENS” option in your app.
Participating shelters for 2014 include:
-ASPCA Adoption Center in New York, N.Y.
-Austin Humane Society in Austin, Texas
-Arizona Humane Society in Phoenix, Ariz.
-PAWS Chicago in Chicago, Ill.
-San Francisco SPCA in San Francisco, Calif.
-Seattle Humane Society in Seattle, Wash.
-Washington Humane Society in Washington, D.C.
