Authorities seek information on killing of protected owl near Oro Valley

ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (AP) -- Officials say a great horned owl was shot to death near Oro Valley.

Oro Valley police and the Arizona Game and Fish Department are looking for information about the killing of the protected animal.

The owl was found dead on Oct. 24 near an elementary school in Oro Valley. It appears to have been shot by a firearm, authorities say.

The Game and Fish Department are offering a reward to anyone with information that leads to a prosecution.
