PHOENIX -- A sunny and warm day is on tap for the Valley, with well above-average afternoon temperatures peaking near 89 degrees.  The average high for today's date is 83 degrees.

A warming trend continues through Friday under a building ridge of high pressure over the Southwest.  Look for sunny skies today and some clouds tomorrow, but continued warm and dry weather through the end of the week.

A dry cold front moves through the state Saturday, bringing a big cooling trend and some breeziness.

Temperatures will drop from the low 90s on Friday to the low 80s Saturday to the mid 70s Sunday and Monday.  Overnight lows drop from the 60s this week to the 50s by Saturday night.

The high country has a chance for rain late Saturday and Sunday, but the Valley will stay dry.
