MESA, Ariz. (AP) -- Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is set to appear at a campaign rally for Republican governor's candidate Doug Ducey.
The rally Thursday night in Mesa is one of several stops the former Massachusetts governor is making this week to back GOP candidates across the West. He's also set to attend a campaign rally in Marana Friday for congressional candidates Andy Tobin and Martha McSally.
Ducey and Romney will be joined at the evening rally at the Mesa Convention Center by two of the Republicans he beat in August's GOP primary, former Mesa Mayor Scott Smith and Secretary of State Ken Bennett.
Ducey is running against Democrat Fred DuVal in the election to replace retiring Republican Gov. Jan Brewer.
Former President Bill Clinton attended a fundraiser for DuVal last month.
