Woman killed in Laveen homePosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Phoenix police are investigating an apparent homicide after a woman was found dead in her Laveen home.
It happened near 51st Avenue and Baseline Road.
Neighbors said they heard loud banging noises coming from the house just before 3:30 a.m. Wednesday then they heard gunshots. A man in dark clothing was spotted near the house.
"What detectives are first trying to figure out is who's the suspect, where's the suspect and what type of relationship the victim had with that suspect to help us identify him," Sgt. John Howard said.
The woman was in her early 20s. Her name has not been released.
There was an 18-month-old in the home, but the child was not harmed and is in the custody of Child Protective Services.
