PHOENIX -- Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies reportedly found 30 pounds of methamphetamine hidden inside an abandoned vehicle in west Phoenix.

Deputies initially thought the Chrysler PT Cruiser found near 51st Avenue and Elwood Street was simply an abandoned vehicle. They conducted a search after a drug-sniffing K-9 alerted to the presence of drugs.

Inside a specially constructed trap hidden underneath the vehicle's backseat, deputies found 22 vacuum-sealed bags of meth, according to the sheriff's office.

The 30 pounds of meth has an estimated street value of $215,000.

The investigation is ongoing.
