PHOENIX -- Phoenix Children's hospital is having their annual Spirit of Children event for patients who are in the hospital for the holidays.

"They are able to come down and decorate pumpkins, get goodies, lots of crafts, a photo booth, tons of stuff for them to do," Marcella Garay, a Child Life assistant, said.

Spirit of Children is a program that helps brings fun and funding to hospitals for holiday seasons.

"The entire hospital is invited so it's an all ages event," Garay said. "We can have anywhere up until 50 to 60 kids down here."

The children will get the chance to paint pumpkins, participate in games, and even pick out a costume on Halloween day.

Spirit Halloween stores donated costumes, hats, and other items to the children with the help of their vendors.

"We're just trying to give back to the community," Vivian Rabun of Spirit Halloween stores said.

Spirit Halloween will be putting on a Halloween Party for the patients and their families including games, crafts, face painting and pumpkin decorating.

Spirit Halloween customers can make a donation to Phoenix Children's Hospital or Cardon Children's Hospital. 100% of donation goes to benefit the child life department.
