GOP Corp Comm hopefuls admit campaign allegationsPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -- The two Republicans running for Arizona Corporation commission have admitted they broke campaign finance laws and agreed to pay fines of $1,000 each.
The state's Citizens Clean Elections Commission voted Thursday to accept the settlement agreement with Rep. Tom Forese and Doug Little.
The commission's executive director told the commission this week that there was reason to believe Forese and Little spent more money than they had on hand and failed to report spending on petition circulators and campaign signs.
Both are running using public funds and settling the case means they avoid potentially higher fines.
Forese and Little are facing Democrats Sandra Kennedy and Jim Holway in next month's general election.
